It is always nice when clients come back for seconds.
The Boathouse, is a client that understands the value of photography for marketing and communication, the new menu, is a natural time to update the image bank, and also a great time to introduce the staff to the new dishes ahead of the autumn season, which traditionally is a strong time with the lead up to the festive season and the pre theatre clients that are a major client base in the Bard’s Town.
Shooting the new additions and a few old favourites in menu & serving order makes sense, when I can use two sets and the dishes then can go to be tested, not wasting food and also ensuing the feedback is in time to act upon, it requires a two camera set up, with appropriate lighting for both sets, sounds hard, it is, but when the food is prepared to a high standard, the process takes all the time in set up and post production, the actual shoot takes maybe a minute or two?
Food photography is only part of what a restaurant shall need, a great shot of the exterior, images of the interior and often, reportage style images of staff as well as portraits of them.
Photo shoots like these are certainly demanding, but so satisfying as the results can be used across media, on the usual platforms and the images all help to show potential clients what can be expected and so maintain a loyal client base.
